Freddie Mercury (born Farrokh Bulsara on September 5, 1946, in Zanzibar, Tanzania) was one of the most recognizable and charismatic artists in rock music. He was the lead singer and songwriter of the iconic band Queen. His voice, with its impressive range, as well as his theatrical stage presence, made him a rock legend, with numerous classic songs such as "Bohemian Rhapsody," "We Will Rock You," and "We Are the Champions." Although he passed away prematurely on November 24, 1991, due to complications from AIDS, his legacy continues to inspire artists and music lovers worldwide.
