Exciter is a Canadian heavy metal band, formed in 1978 in Ottawa, Ontario. They are considered pioneers of speed metal and have influenced many bands in the genre. The original lineup included members Dan Beehler (drums and vocals), Allan Johnson (bass), and John Ricci (guitar). They are characterized by their fast pace and powerful riffs. Their first album, "Heavy Metal Maniac," was released in 1983, and since then they have released several albums that established them in the heavy metal scene.
