The B-52’s were a group from Athens, Georgia, who formed their band in 1976 and by 1979 had their first LP ready, which bore their name.
The album came at a time when new wave had prevailed, meaning people were open to listening to anything. And with the B-52’s, they certainly did. The album is considered and is one of the classic and characteristic albums of that era and impressed with the surrealism and intentional kitsch it offered.
Over the years, the album The B-52’s managed to reach 1,000,000 sales in the USA. The initial position it captured on the Billboard was No. 59.
